The poi 1.5–it is amazing and we have been sleeping on it for far too long! 1.5s are a poi CAP pattern that cuts and pastes together a poi pendulum at the top and poi flowers on the bottom. We’ve known for a while that there’s the poi 1.5 beat weave and the butterfly 1.5 poi move, but it turns out there’s a lot more we’ve been missing! A comment left on an Instagram tutorial a couple months back sent me down a tech poi rabbit hole and I suddenly realized how complex these poi patterns were and what’s more: how little of what was possible with them we’d truly explored! Join me as I put on my poi nerd hat and explore the truly bizarre world of what happens when you turn these poi moves inside out, what we can learn from from doing so, and how many options they open up for us!
